MAX MEDIUMS

Grumbacher's new Max Mediums are a range of non-toxic mediums formulated especially for water-thinnable Max Oil paints. Although Max Grumbacher® paints can be used with conventional oil painting mediums, many artists are still bothered by the toxicity of some painting mediums. In addition, in order to retain complete water miscibility, it is necessary to maintain a proportion of 2 parts Max to 1 part conventional mediums.

The new range of Max Mediums answers this need with three new, completely nontoxic formulas that can be freely used with Max paints, without concern about proportions. They can also be used with conventional oil paints, although they will not make conventional oils water-thinnable. Of course, like Max paints, they clean up with soap and water.

593-2 Max Medium QuickDry™

A liquid painting medium that speeds drying, improves flow and increases gloss of Max. It also enhances the water miscibility of Max Oil Colors or mixtures of Max with conventional oil painting materials. It's ideal for maintaining critical "fat over lean" ratios during painting. Packaged in the standard Grumbacher medium 2.5 fl.oz./74 ml round glass bottle.

592-2 Max Medium Linseed Oil

A finest quality artist's linseed oil modified to be completely miscible with water. Improves the flow and increases gloss of oil colors, and enhances the water miscibility of Max oils and mixtures of Max with conventional oil painting materials. It's also compatible with conventional oil painting materials, but will not make them water miscible. Packaged in the standard Grumbacher medium 2.5 fl. oz./ 74 ml round glass bottle.

590 Max Medium QuickDry Alkyd

An alkyd semi-gel painting medium that is miscible with water, this product is thixotropic, meaning it flows when stirred or brushed. It speeds drying time of Max and produces rich, transparent, luminous colors and glazes. In the tradition of old master wet-in-wet techniques, it holds precise lines and strokes in wet glazes without feathering or bleeding. It is resistant to yellowing, and like the other Max Mediums, it enhances the water miscibility of Max oils and mixtures of Max with conventional oil painting materials. Packaged in a 2 fl.oz./60 ml tube.

Max Medium Pre-Pack

As a special introductory package, we are offering pre-pack of all three Max Mediums in a self-shipping countertop display. Containing 8 each of the Linseed Oil and QuickDry in 2-1/5 fl.oz bottles, plus 6 of the QuickDry Alkyd in 60 ml tubes, the display will feature informative graphics and will take up a minimum of counterspace.
